Hall Lane Methodist Church opened in 1967 and has been a vibrant Christian fellowship ever since. The building has changed over the years and has been extended and improved to meet the needs of our growing congregation and the work that we feel called to carry out in the name of Jesus.
The ethos at Hall Lane has always been very strongly mission-based and working in and with the local community has always been very important to us.
Hall Lane is an active church with a wide age range attending morning worship. Our ladies group and lunch club are particularly well attended. We have an active social calendar and support a different charity each year.
We meet together for worship every Sunday morning at 10.30am. Our worship can be led by our own Minister, Rev Janet Tanner, local preachers from the circuit or by our two worship leaders. Holy Communion is available every month and everyone is welcome at the Lord's Table.
There are other opportunities to take part in worship at Hall Lane. There is always an act of worship at the beginning of our Ladies Fellowship meetings held every other Wednesday evening, with a devotion, singing of a hymn and a time of prayer is included. At Easter, Harvest and Christmas the evening is taken over with a service of celebration by one of our ladies or an invited guest.
Once a month a short time of worship follows our Lunch Club. This is usually led by our Minister, but may sometimes be led by one of our local preachers.
Both the main church and the community room are fitted with an induction loop and microphones. There are disabled toilet facilities and ramped access to the church.
The church also hosts a youth club, pre-school playgroup and a toddler group, both of which are very well supported.
We are very aware as a Christian fellowship of our call to share the good news with our friends, neighbours and everyone we meet. We hold fetes, fairs, festivals and events which are all mission opportunities - allowing us to share the good news with the local community in a fun, non-threatening way.
